63 -Alecia's story, how life led me through tough times but eventually brought me to be in The Heist

Alecia grew up in a small sleepy Cotswold town. It sounds idyllic, but actually her life has been full of trials and tribulations. Her father left when she was very young and with two children to support, her mum had to work two jobs, leaving Alecia and her sister with grandparents & friends.

Alecia has faced many struggles throughout her life.

Bullies ruined her start to secondary school and persisted for a number of years leaving her fragile.

Like us all Alecia had her fair share of not so great boyfriends! As an adventurer at heart, life in the Cotswolds was never going to cut it and she move to Tenerife where she fell in love with her first husband and father of her eldest son. They moved back to the UK where a pregnant Alecia went strait back into full time work in order to provide for her new family.

Unfortunately her first marriage was not to last and she became a single parent right near the beginning of her career change from recruitment, to policing.

On the day of her lassout parade, when her son was only three, he was struck down with encephalitis which was one of the most terrifying times of her life. Bristol Childrens hospital tirelessly battled to save his life. Thankfully he pulled through and Alecia was back to full time policing within a week of her son returning home.

As a single parent, the pressure was on to earn a full time wage and Alecia had no choice but to continue with full time shift work as a Police Officer for a number of years, and dealt with the lonely struggle of not quite fitting in.

She went on to marry again and has had two more children, however, in between she has experienced the crippling heartache of numerous pregnancy losses and struggles with her own mental health.

With time it became apparent that her husbands military tours had resulted in complex PTSD. Their family was being torn apart by the pressure of the Military, the Police and poor health. Essentially, still single parenting due to her husband rarely being at home, her career came to a standstill when it was just too much to just keep all the plates spinning.

Whilst organising relocating her family and leaving her career to support her husbands need for full time rehabilitation and recovery, a chance advert that appeared on Linked In which drew her attention to a once in a life time opportunity. She took her chances, got the job and is now a rising star on Sky Ones new hit Show ‘The Heist’.

With more adventures planned, I can’t wait to see what happens next!
