90 - Carla-Jo Geraghty meeting stressful life events with mindfulness

Carla-Jo was suffering with dyslexia un diagnosed right up until she was at university and the mental weight of the work load struggle really took its toll which then resulted in the diagnosis.

She also had a variety of other events that had happened in her life which she had not 100% processed. When she was a teenager her parents divorced.
Her mother took Carla-Jo and her brother on a trip to South Africa to see her grandparents. While they were on a train her mother was held at knifepoint to her throat and mugged in front of her two children. As the train was moving, there was nowhere to run and Carla-Jo naturally froze.

She suffered flashbacks from the incident and anxiety where life had simply gone on and no time had been given to processing the event.

While at University Carla-Jo stayed with her father but he was suffering with his own mental health issues which were distressing for Carla-Jo too. Sadly he passed away, but life went on and Carla-Jo moved ahead with her career in television and moved house. However this was all to come to an end, and when it did it was time for her to take stock.

Pushing forward and persevering would not make the gremlins of the past disappear. Carla-Jo took some time to reflect on her life and pursue different avenues. She retrained as a Shiatsu practitioner and then came across mindfulness.

Mindfulness has been such an amazing help to Carla-Jo that she was desperate to bring it into the lives of as many people as possible, she found it particularly helpful at guiding her through her recent break up with the father of her child and wishes that she had known about it before.
